Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2022: Comic Book & Toy Deals

It's that time of the year. Christmas is coming up, so it's time to shop 'til you drop. But with a nerdy twist. I wanted to highlight some of the deals and sales that were (and are, for our last source) available for your gift giving desires. Whether it's for yourself or a loved one, there's plenty to browse. And yes, this should've originally been posted prior to Black Friday, but here we are.

When talking holiday shopping, I have to start with one of my favorite retailers, MyComicShop. I've been buying back issues from them for nearly 20 years and have used their preorder service (we'll revisit this shortly) for several years now. Along with Ebay, they're my go-to for finding comics online. Each year on Cyber Monday, they hold their "Booksgiving" sale, which goes for 24 hours. This event features discounts on much, if not all, of their inventory. But that's not it. For every $10 spent, you were given a choice of a free item from a lengthy list. These included single issue comics, collected editions, posters and other collectibles.

I can't say for sure how many years they've been holding Booksgiving, but I've been taking advantage of it for the last few years. "What about shipping?" you might be asking. That's a great question. An added benefit of preordering with them (revisiting as promised) is that I can piggyback my Booksgiving order with my upcoming preorder that's about to ship. So I save on a separate shipping fee, and depending on the weight of the shipment, I've likely avoided paying any additional costs all together for it. I'll save the contents of my order for the future unboxing, but I'll tell you it does include some Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Captain America and Daredevil.

Next up is Jay's Comics. This is my former LCS, which I always visit whenever I'm in town. It's a shop I always shout out and recommend on YouTube and Instagram. From current mainstream and indie comics back through the Golden Age, a massive selection of graphic novels and collected editions, and many, many figures, Jay's has MUCH to offer. Some of the highlights for this year's sale include the discounted omnibus/oversized and absolute editions as well as the dollar bins, where you can often find some recent releases.

I'm far from strictly a comic book guy, as my love for action figures is well documented. This brings us to Hasbro Pulse, formerly Hasbro Toy Shop. For the span of the holiday weekend through Monday evening, they offered a 25% discount on a collection of items to premium members, and 20% off for everyone else. As there were some Marvel Legends figures I've been after, this was the perfect time to capitalize. And I did. I've already received shipping notifications for them. With a variety of brands in their grasp, I'm sure many fans added to their collection with this sale.

Lastly, I wanted to touch on a sale that's still active. The fine people at Organic Priced Books have had their Cyber Week sale going on, which should end Sunday evening. So you have time to find something for yourself or for the comic fan in your life. With a vast variety of titles and filtering options, you're sure to find something to your liking.

If there's a book or title you've been curious about or interested in, this is a great time of the year to pick it up. Again, this is going up late, but I still wanted to spotlight some retailers and their deals for the holiday shopping season. If you took advantage of any of these, or others, what'd you pick up and from where?
