Comic Cover Art of the Week - December 28th

It's with great fanboy pleasure that I present my Comic Cover Art series. In this series, I browse the cover art for the new releases each week and select my favorites. On my old blog, I would select my favorite piece of cover art and talk about the artist(s) briefly and why I chose that image. While I'm still doing that, I've expanded it as I introduce it on this new blog. Now, I'm showing all the covers that appeal to me. There was always so much amazing art and narrowing it down would get tough. So it becomes an even greater celebration of what we first see on the shelf.
One of the deadliest match-ups in the universe makes several appearances this week with some eye-catching pieces. This includes covers for Aliens: Defiance #8 and Alien vs. Predator: Life and Death #1 by Massimo Carnevale and Carlos D'Anda, respectively. Who doesn't love Alien vs. Predator? Sachin Teng's cover for Alien vs. Predator: Life and Death #1 almost took the crown. Right out of the Museum of Creatures Who Might Want to Kill Me. Books from the Bat-family also found themselves on here multiple times by the hands of seasoned and well loved artists such as Declan Shalvey, Francis Manapul and Andy Kubert.Brian Stelfreeze's Black Panther #9 was easily one of the runner-ups. My process for this series brought the cover of X-Men '92 #10 by David Nakayama to my attention. My love for the X-Men is well documented throughout the galaxy and I would've chosen that team shot almost any other time.Alas, it cannot be, as my pick for comic cover art of the week is Hulk #1 by Jeff Dekal. This is actually the piece that inspired me to finally bring this series to this blog. When I saw it, I had to share it.hulk-1With several attention demanding covers, this was a good week to bring these series back from the dead. However, there can be only one and Dekal's Hulk cover is fierce. If you don't know, I do frame some comics and this one is more than worthy of such an honor. I'm digging this cover so much, I may pick this issue up to see what's going on with Jen.What covers stood out to you this week? Which ones made you want to pick up the book? Share in the comments.
