Remembering Peter David and Jim Shooter
The world has lost two more talented figures from the comic industry. Writer Peter David and Jim Shooter, who’s held multiple roles, have passed at ages 68 and 73, respectively. With careers spanning decades and affecting numerous characters, their loss will be felt.
Peter David (Sept. 23, 1956 - May 24, 2025)
Peter David’s writing stretched across multiple mediums and made him an endearing creator, particularly among comic book fans. He worked on numerous properties in a variety of genres. His achievements include being nominated and winning several awards including an Eisner, Haxtur and Inkpot.
Jim Shooter (Sept. 27, 1951 - June 30, 2025)
Starting a career in comics at the age of 14 is a dream many have held. For Jim Shooter, not only did it come true, he ran with it for decades and became an industry icon. Having made an impact at DC and Marvel, he also went on to launch publishers Valiant, Defiant and Broadway. Controversies aside, his influence cannot be denied.
