New Comic Shop Visit: Mayhem Collectibles
I’ve added a new entry into my Comic Shop Tour: Mayhem Collectibles. I had the opportunity to visit a new town and with that comes a stop at a new comic shop.
The moment I knew I was going, I went over to Comic Shop Locator, as always, to see if there were any shops nearby. I was only able to make one stop though.
Mayhem Collectibles has two locations. The store I visited was the one in Des Moines, Iowa.
I wasn’t able to record a video tour of the shop, but it was a clean and organized store. It was sizable with a lot to offer. This included vast selections of new releases, back issues, collected editions, graphic novels, supplies, collectibles, model kits and gaming materials. They also had comic mystery boxes. I did capture a look at their case featuring variants and more expensive issues.
More often than not, I will pick up something to support a shop. Especially on the first visit. Luckily, Mayhem had plenty to choose from and I was able to leave with a stack of back issues. This allowed me to make some progress on my Avengers Vol. 2 run. This included the last of Marvel’s 100 Page Monster issues that I was after, Avengers #27. I’d wager most collectors would agree there’s another level of joy felt when you can pick up multiple issues of a series in one go.
With good customer service, selection and organization, Mayhem Collectibles is absolutely a comic shop I’d recommend checking out if you’re in the area.
