6 Houses in Comics to Spend Thanksgiving
It’s Thanksgiving week. It’s a time for family, friends, connecting and lots of eating. In the world of comics, Thanksgiving may not be an oft-used setting. But given the endearing relationships and various connections shared on the page, it would certainly make for good content.
With that in mind, and for those who celebrate, let’s have some holiday fun. With a comic book twist, of course. I scoured the entire landscape of the world of comics and found six places (and more for next year) that would make for memorable holiday times. The first entry will shock you.
Vampirella’s House, but NOT on Drakulon(!)
Yes, this is absolutely a wild entry to start this list. And yet, it’s still incredibly intriguing. We can bypass all the typical Thanksgiving festivities and trappings with Vampirella. I don’t know if she'd even celebrate or what she’d serve. I don’t even care. She earned a spot here solely for the potential of ending the evening by biting and turning me into a vampire and ensuring my immortality. For this, I’ll be eternally grateful. Emphasis on the eternal.
Ghostbusters Firehouse
Now let’s pack up and head to New York to spend some time with our favorite paranormal investigators. The Ghostbusters’ inclusion on this list is purely for fun. How would they celebrate Thanksgiving? No idea. Peter will do something crazy. Who’s cooking or bringing what dishes? Winston or Ray? Egon may invent a new way to cook a turkey. Not a clue.
But you know what? It’ll be a memorable time because we’ll be laughing and joking around all day. Maybe they’ll get a call and I can tag along. Bless Janine’s heart for what she’ll have to witness.
Avengers’ Mansion
Do you think I’d pass up the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Not a chance. It’s Avengers’ Mansion. It’ll be one of the best holidays ever. Looking at the Avengers’ rosters over the years, that guest list would be stacked. Imagine all the groups spread around the house and the conversations that would take place. Then there’s Jarvis, who’s an absolute champ in the kitchen. With Tony Stark footing the bill, we’d have every typical Thanksgiving dish and more. Yes, I’m taking several plates home.
Josie Schuller’s House (Lady Killer; Dark Horse)
I’d bet a stack of comics that Josie Schuller could walk away winning Thanksgiving. Besides being quite skilled in her extracurricular activities, she also works wonders at home. As the wonderful hostess she is, she’ll not only cook up plenty of tasty dishes, but she’ll make sure every guest is comfortable and satisfied. In a small setting such as this, what more could you ask for?
Wayne Manor
This one’s similar to Avengers’ Mansion in that, with a loaded bank roll, the menu could be vast and no one will be left wanting for food. Which of course will be cooked and served by extended Wayne family member Alfred. The difference lies in the guest list. Is it a Bat-family holiday or a Gotham friends gathering? I’ll take the former and embrace the more intimate setting.
Aunt May’s House
For this final entry, let’s make a stop at a house built on love. Aunt May will surely over-extend herself to make her guests feel at home. And as great guests, we won’t let her do it all by herself. During dinner conversation, she’ll want everyone to share something they’re thankful for and no one will argue with that. Aunt May represents the heart of the Marvel Universe and that’ll be on full display during Thanksgiving.
