"Not-At-Comic-Con" Comic-Con 2022 Begins!

With the return of San Diego Comic-Con after a two-year hiatus, it's time to celebrate. To do so, I wanted to revisit my trip to one of the world's most popular conventions back in 2011. While that would be fun just by itself, I wanted to do it in fashion. Welcome to "Not-At-Comic-Con" Comic-Con!

What is N.A.C.C. Comic-Con?
As a concept, it began during the pandemic as conventions and events were shutting down and their future put in question. I thought of ideas for holding an online convention and how it might look. I considered reaching out to some comic creators either for interviews or planning ways fans could interact with them in the vein of an online panel. Another idea involved connecting with comic shops to perhaps offer promotions for fans to shop with them during that particular weekend. It didn't go beyond that, however. But the thoughts still lingered.

Fast forward to July 2022. SDCC is back and the fans have been eager to step inside the San Diego Convention Center, uniting as they bask in all the nerdy fun. I thought back to my trip and while looking at my pictures, I realized I didn't start blogging until later that year. My pictures have not been seen by anyone who wasn't connected to my Facebook. So I thought I'd not only post them to my blog, but also share some memories and make a whole weekend worth of content relating to conventions. I've also reached out to some comic creators for interviews, but a short notice convention doesn't lend itself well to that. Here's hoping.

With all that said, beginning today, July 22nd, and running through Sunday, July 24th, I'll be posting daily content here and on my YouTube channel. I will also be sharing on social media. Each day will see an upload of a portion of the photos I took back then. The daily videos will follow some of my typical convention coverage titles with "…Day 1," "…Day 2" and "…Day 3." The first upload will be sharing some memories from SDCC 2011 as well as some of my fondest memories from other conventions.

I encourage all of you to participate and share some of your own memories, tips and thoughts from conventions. Time to have some fun.
