Ticket Updates for C2E2 & Emerald City Comic Con and Tips For Success

ReedPop, the team behind popular events such as New York Comic Con and PAX, has shared some updates regarding two of their other well beloved conventions. The tickets for both the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, also known as C2E2, and Emerald City Comic Con, or ECCC, go on sale in March. The specific dates will vary based on if you're a Superfan, V.I.P. or are part of the general public. Visit the links above for the specifics.

Both conventions will be held in August this year. C2E2 takes place on the 5th-7th, while ECCC will be held on the 18th-21st.

As someone who's been to numerous conventions over the years, I'm always happy to share tips I've learned from my own experiences. The first note I must make is we are in interesting times regarding comic conventions, from the COVID cancellations to the slow reintroduction of events. Several of them have seen schedule shifts, including these two shows which have moved from their original spring dates, to the winter and now summer.

The next aspect of note concerns entry requirements and vaccination status. Regardless of your stance on the subject, event organizers have had to figure out ways to navigate current circumstances and run shows as safely as possible. ReedPop, specifically, utilizes CLEAR for its events. This allows users to upload information regarding their vaccination status or negative COVID tests. It's an easy process providing quicker access to their conventions. I used it for C2E2 2021 with no difficulty.

The main tips I wanted to address here are about tickets, hotels and travel. In previous years, you were best served deciding if you wanted to attend any convention as soon as possible, then acquiring tickets and booking housing and travel the moment they were available. Even with COVID and the number of attendees being limited by planning teams, applying that same logic certainly won't hurt. Add in the fact that some people are avoiding or aren't able to attend because of their anti-vax stance, and it's hard to predict how long tickets and accommodations will be available. Again, interesting times.

Are you planning on attending C2E2 and/or Emerald City Comic Con? What's your comic convention planning strategy? Check out my previous convention coverage here, then head over to my Youtube channel to watch my videos of different shows.
